Before getting started on this site for professor and author Lisa Duggan, I spent some time familiarizing myself with her work. I wanted her writing and personal style to guide the design.
She decided to name the site after a conference address she gave entitled “The Fun and the Fury,” so I started there. I sought a look that would embody the idea of “fun as an important political practice” while remaining suitable for work that contained heavy material and painful subjects, both personal and political.
This was also the first site I developed for WordPress’ new Gutenberg editor. We particularly benefited from the native pull quote and cover image blocks.
